With a little help from my friends

It is 2:55am and I am looking through glazed eyed at this screen. It is a tough job, but I am trying to find an all-inclusive vacation spot for December or Jamuary for Don, myself and a couple of snowbird friends from Indiana. The glazed eyes could be from the vanilla rum I am sipping during this process. Everyone leaves it up to me to find the ideal deal. I lucked out last year when I booked us into a resort in Punta Canta, Dominican Republic. It was fantastic and everyone just loved it.

Well, that was just plain dumb good luck...so what do I do now? I have always wanted to go to Costa Rica, but am a little nervous because it seems as if a lot of places there may be more primative than tolerable. So I am open to suggestions...
has to be all-inclusive, 5 to 7 days, under $1k per person. including airfare, and departing from FT Myers, Sarasota, Tampa or Miami, AND in the tropical zone, ON the beach.

Is that too much to ask? I await with with baited breath for your suggestions.

ps-this Cruzan Vanilla Rum is really good with grape flavored cigarellas! FYI

I haven't been on a vacation in years. So I don't have any suggestions, but I can wish you luck and lots of fun wherever you end up.

We're thinking of a Mexico vacation in early December, and we're intrigued by Cabo San Lucas. One day, I would like to go back to Jamaica, too. And MAYBE, one day Cuba will be open...wouldn't that be an awesome vacation?

All I got is a hunt camp in Canada. You like bear sausage?

Em - thanks. Surely you deserve a vacation, too. Make Dan take you somewhere nice!
Braja - I suppose you are. I guess India would be exciting, but its a little far to travel for me.
Riki - Yould would catch that. No, but I do enjoy a little cigar every now and then. I think the ozarks are beautiful, but I must at least have running water. lol
Beth - We may end up in Mexico somewhere. I have been to Jamicia several times, but don't think I've
been to Cabo San Lucas. Wouldn't it be nice to visit Havana.
Erin - I would freeze to death in Canada in the winter. And, I've never really been keen on eating wild game. But thanks anyway. You eat BEAR?

Good luck with the vacation search. Beth's mention of Jamaica made me think that *usually* I see ads for low, low prices in the Caribbean. Perhaps consider other islands like the Bahamas or Aruba.

you lost me at "airfare included". If you find something for the love of God, email me and tell me

Hi Char! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Hope you'll come back and browse through it sometime; there are things there you might enjoy--us being the same age and all.

My husband and I did an all inclusive to Aruba a few years ago, but I'm not sure it would be within the $1000 limit today--prices rise so! Good luck.

I'm afraid I cannot be of any help, but I can't wait to hear where you guys land - living vicariously!!

The vanilla rum sounds devine :-)

(grew up vacationing on the beaches of Captiva and Sanibel - your photo is incredible!! The luckiest of souls get to live near the ocean. Sadly, I'm stuck in Dallas :-(

I used to own a beach bar in St. Croix so "ditto" on the GREAT Cruzan rum! For all-inclusives, check out Cancun and the Maya Riviera -- some good deals out there. Enjoy!
