Banyan Trees

Don't you just love banyan trees?  My brother was visiting with me this past week and I took him over to Boca Grande to go to the lighthouse beach.  It promply rained on us as soon as we arrived, but I took him to my favorite place there called Banyan Street to catch a look at the trees.

These trees are just mystical to me.

I suppose they are terribly invasive when they begin to eat your house...but you gotta love them.

Yes, they're gorgeous and spooky looking...almost human-like in the way they grow. Beautiful pics!

It is not very (environmentally) friendly for a tree to eat a house.

They are gorgeous! I wish they liked it up in this part of FL but I guess it gets too cold for them here.

I am a great lover of trees (*whispers* yes I do have a habit of hugging them) and I am loving these pictures, you. Very huggable these trees seem.

Braja~Thanks. I read somewhere that the largest banyan tree covers some 14 acres. I think it was in Africa (or maybe India)?

Beth~They are a bit spooky.

Nancy~Nope, don't think you have the weather for them.

Mo~Ha, guess not...you have to cut the hanging roots to prevent it.

Wine/words~Me too!

Oct~Thanks!

S Mamma~Thanks for stopping by here.

Sarah~they are a little large for hugging.
